Osmosis
1: Movement of
a solvent through a semi-permeable membrane (as of a living cell)
into a solution of higher solute concentration that tends to equalize
the concentrations of solute on the two sides of the membrane. 2:
A process of adsorption or diffusion suggestive of the flow of osmotic
action. Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary

In English:
Imagine you had a fish tank, separated in half by ordinary
household plastic wrap, and you filled it on both sides with pure
water. If you begin to add salt (or other contaminants) to either
side, the water in the pure water side will gradually seep through
the plastic wrap to the contaminated side until equilibrium is reached.
-
During REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO), significant pressure is applied
to the contaminated (raw water) side. Clean water is forced from
the contaminated side, through the membrane, to the clean side.
The clean water is called permeate. The remaining water is called
concentrate and will be discarded. The permeate is of REMARKABLY
high quality. For nominal RO specifications, click here. After viewing
the RO specs you will notice that the filter will remove about 85
to 95 percent of all contaminants in drinking water. What about
the remaining 5 to 15 percent? Nearly every other company feels
that this is adequate for you to consume.

Except us!
-
- With the Aquathin
DEIONIZATION (DI) process as a second stage purifier, the
remaining contaminants, too fine to be filtered, are removed based
on their electrical charge (ionically).
Lastly, there is a GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON (GAC) final
stage process to remove any remaining low molecular weight substances,
trace odors and to "polish" the final product. This produces
a water quality virtually 100% free of any contaminants. It is SUPERIOR
TO ANY OTHER FILTER AVAILABLE TODAY!
This final product is sent to a storage tank while awaiting consumption.
